2.     Spring GoNuke! is posted on the website and attached.  Read up all about the upcoming Conference!  If you are attending the Conference and want to write an article about it contact me!

3.     What have our members accomplished recently? At the NSTA (National Science Teachers Association) Conference last week, ten NA-YGN members volunteered to work the booth. Their enthusiasm led to 135 teachers completing the NA-YGN teacher registration forms.  The results are quite impressive:

400+ - number of science teachers who received pro-nuclear materials

135 – number of unique entries

19 – teachers signed-up for the poster contest presentation

61 – new members of NAN (Nuclear Advocacy Network)

97 – number of teachers signing-up for the ANS ReActions newsletter

86 – number of teachers who requested classroom visits

A BIG thank you to Adam Borcz and Elizabeth Haupin for organizing this event.

4.     The American Nuclear Society Standards Committee has requested NA-YGN members attend the 2010 International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) General Meeting to represent the United States and attend a dedicated workshop alongside peers from other countries.  The IEC 2010 General Meeting will be held October 6 - 15 in Seattle, Washington.  This opportunity is presented through the IEC Young Professional Competition.  Recipients will be provided support for travel expenses and up to three nights of accommodation.

Candidates should hold a role that involves them with standardization or conformance from a technical or managerial perspective within their organization.  The program is targeted towards individuals who are in the first 10 - 15 years of their professional career, post university.  If you would like to be considered for this honor, please complete the nomination form (minus the nominator's personal statement) and submit the form to ANS Standards Administrator Patricia Schroeder no later than Friday, April 16, 2010, for consideration.

More information about the program is available at  (http://www.ansi.org/news_publications/news_story.aspx?menuid=7&articleid=2425)
