1. Registration
for the 2010 NA-YGN Professional Development Conference held May 16-18, 2010 in San Francisco is now open.
Please register and book
your hotel by April 14th in order to
save money. Questions

Captivate You!” NA-YGN Conference attendees
participating in the special event Sunday morning, May
16 will be given the opportunity to see San Francisco and
visit the famous Alcatraz State Park while networking with other conference
attendees. Attendees should be aware that this event will require lots of
walking, so please dress appropriately! Plenty of time has been provided
in the agenda to allow attendees to shower and change before the 2pm start of
the conference sessions back at the hotel.

3. What
have our members accomplished recently? At the NSTA (National
Science Teachers Association) Conference last week, ten NA-YGN members
volunteered to work the booth. Their enthusiasm led to 135 teachers completing
the NA-YGN teacher registration forms. The results are quite impressive:
400+ - number of science teachers
who received pro-nuclear materials
135 – number of unique
entries
19 – teachers signed-up for
the poster contest presentation
61 – new members of NAN
(Nuclear Advocacy Network)
97 – number of teachers
signing-up for the ANS ReActions newsletter
86 – number of teachers who
requested classroom visits

4.
The
American Nuclear Society Standards Committee has requested
NA-YGN members attend the 2010 International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)
General Meeting to represent the United States and attend a
dedicated workshop alongside peers from other countries. The IEC 2010
General Meeting will be held October 6 - 15
in Seattle, Washington. This opportunity is presented through the IEC
Young Professional Competition. Recipients will be provided support for
travel expenses and up to three nights of accommodation.
Candidates should hold a role that involves
them with standardization or conformance from a technical or managerial
perspective within their organization. The program is targeted towards
individuals who are in the first 10 - 15 years of their professional career,
post university. If you would like to be considered for this honor,
please complete the nomination form (minus the nominator's personal statement)
and submit the form
to ANS Standards Administrator Patricia Schroeder no later than Friday, April 16, 2010, for consideration.
