Announcements:
1. The
Young Professional Congress Meeting Registration is OPEN! The YPC
embedded topical registration fee is included as part of the registration fee
for the 2009 ANS Winter Meeting and Nuclear Technology Expo. For ANS Young
Members, the registration fee is $530.00 (USD) if paid by October 19,
2009. After that date, the registration fee for ANS Young Members is
$630.00 (USD).
Hotel Registration is also open until October 19, however the reduced rate
fills up quickly.
2. If you
are attending the YPC, they could use some help in regards to knowledge capture
session writers (KCSW). Contact Blake
Poland if you are interested in helping. They need Photojournalists, as
well.
3. Roddy
the Fuel Pellet is back for the 11th annual Poster
Contest to educate 4th and 5th grade students about the wonders of nuclear
science and technology! We’ve got the basics
as well as lots of details
and example documents to help your presentation to your local schools inspire
the best posters from these students by the deadline of October 30,

4. If you
aren’t going to run, then consider donating $30 to support our
“Fueled by Atoms” team here …Participation
is up 400% for the Regional Event in the
Atlantic Region. That means we have 4 people. The DC Chapter of
NA-YGN is sponsoring the November 15, 2009 The
Colonel Ripley Memorial Fuel for Life 5K benefiting the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund in
Annapolis, MD. A NA-YGN team has been set up as “Fueled by
Atoms.” The 5k run is the Sunday before the ANS Winter Meeting and
YPC embedded topical, so those of you visiting from out of town may also
participate! Bring your running gear!

Looking for a different opportunity?
The communications “team” is looking to perform a survey about how
we get information out to our members. The survey needs to be developed,
administered and data analyzed. If you are interested in helping complete this
by next May, contact communications@na-ygn.org.
7. It’s
time to review the Abstracts for the IYNC in South Africa next year.
IYNC Each Track has a Track Chair, who assigns and coordinates reviews between
reviewers as well as performs several reviews. If you are interested in
helping please forward your resume to Canada’s own Bharath
Nangia and request to be a Reviewer. You will also need to indicate which
tracks you have experience and interest in helping with. It will be forwarded
to the respective Track chair.
