GET INVOLVED!
1. Are you looking for a way to share your strengths and skills with NAYGN? We have an opportunity for you! The NAYGN Benchmarking Committee is looking for members to join our team. We will be working on completing the 2013 NAYGN Career Report and need your help. This is a great opportunity to share, demonstrate and build your leadership skills. Volunteers are needed right away! 2. NAYGN is looking for volunteers to support our activities! There are open positions on the Public Information Committee, Professional Development Committee, Social Media, Sponsorship Team, Membership, Chapter Health, Government Outreach, Career Awareness - and many more! EVENTS
1. The Annual Professional Development conference in Washington D.C. included our bi-annual Hill Day advocacy activity. Approximately 300 NAYGN participants contacted 200 Congressional offices; see the youtube video<http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qv-biSq5hVs> on the NAYGN YouTube channel. If you were unable to participate in the Hill Day, the NAYGN Congressional Communication Plan<http://resources.nei.org/documents/CMC/NAYGNCongressionalCommunicationPla...> and 2013 Talking Points/Leave Behind <http://resources.nei.org/documents/CMC/NAYGN2013Talking%20points.pdf> lays out an action plan to organize local chapters and reach out to you Members of Congress locally as well as local elected officials. 2. Mark your calendar to attend the Young Professional Congress (YPC), held in conjunction with the 2013 ANS Winter Meeting.
The American Nuclear Society (ANS) Young Members Group (YMG) and the North American Young Generation of Nuclear (NAYGN) designed this one-day program to provide a unique opportunity for young professionals in the nuclear industry. The sessions will provide actionable skills development and broad networking opportunities for all attendees.
When: Saturday, November 9, 2013
Where: Omni Shoreham Hotel, Washington, D.C.
Members of the ANS and the NAYGN are encouraged to attend. Please note that attendance for the full ANS meeting is not required to attend the YPC. Be on the lookout for more information in upcoming communications.
You are also invited to participate in the YMG-sponsored Hill Visit on Thursday, November 14.
To prepare participants for this event, a Communicating Effectively with Your Representative prep session will take place Wednesday, November 13. Be on the lookout for more details!

The Canadian Nuclear Society (CNS) and North American Young Generation Nuclear (NAYGN) are pleased to invite you to its annual professional development (PD) seminar on Sunday, June 9, 2013 as part of the 34th annual Canadian Nuclear Society (CNS) conference at the Marriott Toronto Downtown Eaton Centre in vibrant downtown Toronto, Ontario.
The theme of this year's NAYGN PD seminar and conference is "Nuclear - The Next Generation." The central objective is to exchange views on how nuclear science and technology can best serve the needs of humanity, now and in the future.

1. A new Webinar Series on Leadership and Professional Development begins June 11! Following the 'Develop Yourself for Career Success' session at the 2013 PD Conference, NAYGN members will provide a series of webinars on the NEI Competency Model; remedies to gain some of the skills in the NEI Competency Model; and personal experiences (stories) from other NAYGN members who have gained these skills. The goal is to allow NAYGN members to use these webinars for years to come. 2. On June 5 at 9 am, INPO NAYGN and WIN Chapters are honored to host Ms. Bonnie St. John (Leadership Consultant and Olympic Medalist) for a seminar on micro-resilience in the global workplace. Ms. St. John will guide participants from the front lines through a series of practical exercises and techniques to enhance her audience's capacity to offset the negative effects of stress, increase resilience, and how to play to win. 2. Pandora's Promise, a documentary film that has the potential to fundamentally change the way the public views nuclear energy is scheduled to be released June 12. The film explores the history of nuclear energy and its role as a large-scale source of electricity to meet the growing global appetite for power as well as a tool to mitigate greenhouse gases. Producer Robert Stone tells that conversion stories of environmentalists Steward Brand, Mark Lynas and Michael Shellenberger and authors Gwyneth Craves and Richard Rhodes as he tackles many public misperceptions about nuclear energy.
