NA-YGN Announcements:
1. Here is a chance to show support for our friends in New Jersey. The Berkely (NJ)
Patch that deals with anti-groups is calling for the shutdown of Oyster Creek (OC).
There's a voting button at the bottom of the story on the question "Do you think
OC should be shut down." Please vote and show your support for keeping OC open. Right
now the vote is 64/35% against.

2. Plans for the annual Southeast Regional Conference are well under way. The
conference will be hosted by NextEra Energy and will be held at the Jupiter Beach Resort
in Jupiter Florida November 2-4. Registration is accessible via the new Southeast Region

beach clean-up along with Friends of Jupiter
Beach<http://friendsofjupiterbeach.com/>, a nonprofit organization, at the SE
regional conference on Friday, Nov. 4.
3. It's the for the 13th Annual NA-YGN Drawing Contest! This year's theme
is, "Roddy Nuclear Powers the World." Check out the NA-YGN
website<http://www.na-ygn.org/publicinfo/drawingcontest/2011%20-%20Rod...
for rules and planning timeframes on how your chapter can present to 4th and 5th graders
on nuclear science and technology. Last year over 1,000 posters were submitted reaching
students all over North America. Help us reach out to more students this Fall before the
deadline of October 21, 2011.
4. Time is running out. NA-YGN members are invited to join the Young Professionals
Congress, which is jointly organized by the Young Members Group of the American Nuclear
Society and the NA-YGN. Within this venue, young professionals have the opportunity to
develop non-technical professional skills, network among their peers and explore the roles
and functions of industry organizations, such as ANS and NA-YGN.
Being a part of YPC2011 also gives participants full access to the 2011 ANS Winter
Meeting, Technology Expo and 2011 Small Modular Reactor Embedded Topical!
This year's ANS Winter Meeting will be held at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington
DC on October 31st-November 3rd. For more information:

5. The World Nuclear University(WNU) is inviting NA-YGN members to participate in
the World Nuclear University School on Radiation Technologies (RT School) taking place in
Daejeon, Korea (13 May - 1 June 2012). The RT School will be based on the format of the
WNU Summer Institute, but with a program focused on the non-power applications of nuclear
technology. The curriculum has been developed in close cooperation with the IAEA's
Department for Nuclear Applications and the World Council on Isotopes. Click here to

Please note that some professionals from developing countries will be eligible for IAEA
assistance. Applicants seeking such assistance should return their application form to WNU

6. IYNC 2012 Call For Papers! The IYNC 2012 conference will supplement NA-YGN's
annual professional development conference with several technical tracks. Young
professionals and students from around the world will have the opportunity to present
their research papers to an audience of their peers. The current deadline for summaries is
