annual professional development conference with several technical tracks. Young

4. Plans for the annual Southeast Regional Conference are well under way. The
conference will be hosted by NextEra Energy and will be held at the Jupiter Beach Resort
in Jupiter Florida November 2-4. Registration is accessible via the new Southeast Region

beach clean-up along with Friends of Jupiter
Beach<http://friendsofjupiterbeach.com/>, a nonprofit organization, at the SE
regional conference on Friday, Nov. 4.
5. Please welcome two new chapters to the NA-YGN family: Siemens and UNC Charlotte.
Both chapters are in the Carolinas region and located in Charlotte, NC. The Siemens
chapter lead is Becky Rollins. The Siemens chapter is just kicking off and they are
building momentum among the employees in their new office location. The UNC Charlotte
chapter lead is Stephen O'Flynn O'Brien. The UNC Charlotte chapter has had a
successful fall kickoff and is looking forward to hosting a seminar series and a nuclear
awareness event on campus.
6. The World Nuclear University(WNU) is inviting NA-YGN members to participate in the
World Nuclear University School on Radiation Technologies (RT School) taking place in
Daejeon, Korea (13 May - 1 June 2012). The RT School will be based on the format of the
WNU Summer Institute, but with a program focused on the non-power applications of nuclear
technology. The curriculum has been developed in close cooperation with the IAEA's
Department for Nuclear Applications and the World Council on Isotopes. Click here to

countries will be eligible for IAEA assistance. Applicants seeking such assistance should

7. The U.S. Department of Energy has recently proposed a regulation that governs the
export of peaceful nuclear technology, including for the production of electricity, to the
multi-billion dollar global market. This proposed change could:
Adversely impact competitiveness of U.S. nuclear suppliers,
Disrupt existing commercial arrangements between U.S. manufacturers and their overseas
customers,
Create additional administrative burdens
Significantly slow down the number of jobs created and brought in to U.S.
